MooseMist-Could Clinton have Palin-proofed Dems?

According to one article, many Democrats have become angry with Barack Obama for not choosing Hillary Clinton as his running mate because now, with the selection of Sarah Palin, the Republicans have the "gender card".
However, most women are Democrats, and Sarah Palin isn't as appealing as many would say to women

Do you think Barack Obama made a mistake, or do you think that most women will still vote for the Dems?

i think Palin will pull some women who were voting for Hillary just because she was a woman and Obama would not have lost those if he'd picked Hillary for his runing mate. but i hope that most women, and men, will have the integrity to look at the issues and what each candidate will do for the country rather than just voting for a person based on their gender or race.

I do not think that Obama made a mistake by not picking Clinton.
I think that Obama picked who he thought was the best
candidate to help him run the country if he wins the election.
I think the point of the VP is not to stir up as much contraversity
as possible but to find someone who complete the candidate for
president as much as possible. For people to be mad at Obama for
not picking Clinton because she is a women is dumb.

I dont think obama made a mistake by picking biden over clinton. Its accurate to say that he did almost the same thing that McCain did. By balancing the ticket with a man who had a more conservative outlook, obama made himself look like a more rounded candidate, just as McCain tried to make himself look more liberal by selecting a woman. The fact is, that although some democrats are pissed off at obama, no democrat is willing to deal with another 4 years of a republican in office.

Biden was picked for two main reasons:
Number 1:
"AH, Obama is a black, muslim, (insert any prejudice comment here). I'm not so sure he should be our president because of that."
"But look! Joe Biden! He's a middle aged white male for vice president."
"Now, I am appeased."

Number 2:
The main argument McCain's campaign is using is Obama's inexperience. However, Biden is very experienced and as Chris mentioned balanced the ticket.

(Although, I did read that Biden is the more liberal than the two. But I really have no idea)

I think Clinton would not have been a good choice for Obama, because a large amount of people simply do not like Hilary Clinton. Ask many people and they will say, "I just don't like her". So, I think that Obama made the best choice possible because he is pulling from all points of view of Americans.

I think Obama made a good decision, i believe he went with what he believed was right for his campaign. However i do believe that he did lose some women votes to Sarah Palin, but you have to do what you believe will help your campaign, and I'm sure Obama was intelligent enough to realizes there were more gains to picking Biden then picking Hillary.

I don't think many women that would vote for hilary are going to be swayed by Palin just because she is a woman. Maybe a small percentage that thinks a woman's point of view is really important will vote republican, but Palin and Hilary's campaign platforms could hardly be further apart. Palin is textbook republican ,(a big reason she was picked), and Hilary is definitely liberal. Opposite sides of the spectrum. I just don't see how someone could make that large of a jump just because there's a female candidate on the republican ticket.

I think that if Obama picked Hilary as his VP he would be considered a copycat. Sarah Palin will proably get some votes because  she is a woman. but she'll proably get more votes because she's good at what she does.

I see where you're going with this Kirsten
But keep in mind that Obama revealed his VP before McCain did, so I don't see how the copycat factor could play any role in it

i think that the democratic women would stay with their politcal party, because that is what they believe in that is why they are in that political party. I don't think that they would change just because McCain picked a women for his VP, even though it is awesome he did, i just don't think that women would just switch political parties because of this.

I think Obama did the right thing picking Biden rather than Hilary. I can just see Obama and Hilary not getting along if they were in office together.

no way i believe barack made a mistake. hillary was and is not a good choice for vp. she is too controlling and far too demanding.

barack is doing just fine :D

i also think its redonk that people should bring the gender card into this. okay, palin is not a good choice. she did nothing in alaska and is equipped for maybe a tsunami and thats about it. i vote for covering all the candidated in a black shroud until they get elected. then maybe us 'mericans will listen up.

I think it's a bummer that people really focus on these details, instead of the issues... but i don't think it was a mistake on obama's part. i don't think he cares much about the gender card.

I DON'T KNOW IF HILARY CLINTON WOULD'VE BEEN A GOOD CHOICE BUT I CERTIANLY DON'T KNOW ENOUGH ABOUT THE OTHER VP CANIDIDATE ENOUGH TO MAKE AN ACCURATE OPINION. CERTAINLY I DON'T THINK IT HURT HIM WITH GETTING WOMEN SUPPORTERS BECAUSE NOT MANY PEOPLE ARE FAVORING PALIN RIGHT NOW.

I don't think selecting Biden was not a bad choice of a vp. Its not that big of a deal they want to talk about hiliary more that obama sometimes.
