A recent report released by the Human Rights Watch claims that Hugo Chavez and his government has chipped away at basic human rights, including freedom of expression and forming of union. Jose Miguel Vivanco, director of Human Rights Watch's America stated that "During this decade, democracy and its key institutions have become seriously weakened," and that the Venezuelan government has sacrificed fundamental rights to further his political interests. This has been made judicial system that has failed to do anything about Hugos blatant disregard for separation of power.
The Government of Chavez denies the charges, saying that "[...] no other government has respected human rights more," and that the report is part of an international conspiracy against Venezuela's government.
In April of 2002 a coup briefly removed Chavez from power, but this opportunity to strengthen Democracy in Venezuela was squandered.
If Chavez continues to deny the citizens of Venezuela fundamental human rights, should they organize another coup to overthrow the oppressive? Or do you believe that this report is just a conspiracy, as the government claims?

i belive in John Locke's ideals of the ruler's power coming from the consent of the governed, if Chavez is ruling unfairly, infringing upon the peoples' rights to life liberty and property, the people have the right given to them to overthrow the leader
i agree with scott, i believe if the people are being oppressed they should organize a coup and stand for their rights. In this matter i believe it is very likely that the governemnt is being oppresse.
As long as our forces are directly involved in the coup, it's worth a shot. Everyone deserves a chance to know the freedom that we all take for granted.
I agree that the Venezualen people should overthrow an oppressive government. Robert, I disagree with completely with the fact that our troops should be directly involved. We don't have the troops to spare.
