Oh you "ranga"! ......k.i.t.s.b

New research has found that playful teasing could lead to better friendships and help kids develop social skills.Dr Erin Heerey, of the University of Bangor in North Wales said the kids she studied developed better friendship through "playful humiliations". She also sais"Treasing helps children to discover how to use their bodies, voices and faces to communicate nuances of meaning.", and that teachers should not interfer.

So where is the line drawn between teasing and bullying?

She teachers really not step in?

i think the line of teasing and bullying is pretty define, teasing is done between friends and you can normally tell that the person is joking, while bullying has the intent to emotionally harm someone. Now telling the difference as an onlooker may be a little more of a gray area but if your a teacher you can tell the associations between people, such as who they hang out with or what not and may be able to tell if the person teasing is in fact teasing as a friend or bullying as an enemy. I believe tht teachers should step in if they feel the need to, but also they shouldnt blow the situation in to a bigger one that it is, find out whats going on before reacting.

An occasional insult or joke is part of life. My younger brother and sister go at it all the time. But we don't stop them unless one of them is taking it to far or one of them is getting really upset. Dealing with "playful humiliations" is just another part of life.

its really apart of growning up.. its going to happen no matter what . i believe there is a fine line and teachers should step in if anything becomes serious..

hahah
as a democratic, half asian, AP nerd,
i get a lot of "playful humiliation" from the guys in baseball and my friends in general

and i m completely fine with it
however there is definetly a line

but because its my friends playfully humiliating me they usually respect that line

its when people you dont even know "tease" you
i think thats when it goes from "teasing" to "bullying"

nonetheless i agree with gina
teasing is a part of growing and one needs to learn how to deal with it

i think you can tell when someone is being teased, like kody said, teasing is done between friends, and family, (even though it is sometimes hurtful) you know that they are just kidding around.
bullying you can totally tell, is extremely hurtful, and causes more emtional pain than teasing. also with bullying someone is purposely trying to hurt your feelings.

I think it's pretty obvious when there's teasing and bullying

I think most of the time, but not all the time, that teasing falls in more of a "i know you" type of category, whereas bullying falls into the "i dont know you" type of category, in a sense. yup
