As we enter in 2009, much discussion has been made over the Best Music of 2008. Many Music News sites or magazines (Pitchfork Media, Rollingstone) have many articles on what they picked for Best of 2008.
So to share this discussion, I ask what was your favorite music releases this year? Any great new artists this year or great albums? What's your opinion!?

I don't keep too up with the new tunes (mostly I busy myself trying to find normal people singing kids' songs so I don't have to be tortured with the Wiggles....Barenaked Ladies' La La La La Lemon being my current favorite, along with the whole Curious George soundtrack and Sarah McLaughlin singing The Rainbow Connection), but Viva la Vida was released last calendar year, not just last school year, right?! that rocked! :)

Narrow Stairs was great. I dig the new Queen c.d. and the Guns N Roses cd was perhaps the most terrible comeback...ever. Viva La Vida was also good. Coldplay never fails me. I like the new Jason Mraz stuff and Britney and Beyonce never cease to impress in the realm of "music played at school dances".
sigur ros - Meğ suğ í eyrum viğ spilum endalaust beyonce - I am... sasha fierce
I wanted to say that when i was in arizona i was watching some celeb news thing or something and they were like "coming up.. beyonce and her alter ego." i couldnt help but think of this class and that beyonce blog :) it was pretty funny i sometimes feel like we cover the news before it is even on television

Broadening the topic a little, what's your "signature song?" (what they'd play for your at-bat were you on the Dodgers lineup, or the background music to your E! True Hollywood Story profile)

you have no idea how much thought has been put into my walk up song for this year because the varsity baseball team has walk up songs for our at bat the trick is that it has to make a statement in under 15 seconds
i have yet to come up with a song
but hey i still have about a month to come up with one
as of right now though i have a few choices
Check the Rhyme- A Tribe Called Quest RE:Definition- Black Star Somebody told me- The Killers I just got this sypmphony going- The Fall of Troy All Around the World- Red Hot Chili Peppers Monkey Wrench- Foo Fighters
its impossible to choose one
just so every one knows this is an incredibly important decision in baseball.

20 dollar by M.I.A. it uses the chorus of Where is my mind from the pixies which is also one a my faves. and and and dont trust me by 30h!3 and too hard for the _____'in radio by Mac Dre
I wish i was in baseball strictly for the reason to pick my own song.
I would probably pick A Thousand Eyes by Crystal Antlers.
or probably Stress by Justice. Something that's just all-out Crazy.
Beirut is a pretty good band/man, Allie. Fantastic Gypsie music. But Sigur Ros is definitely pretty music. You can't lie there, even if you don't like the Icelandic jibberish that he sangs quite high-pitch'd-ly.

nahhh they do abolutely nothing for me i actually downloaded an array of different songs from limewire (yes i am a criminal and proud of it) by sigur and gave them a chance, but they were still bad.
viva la vida by coldplay is pretty amazing. the concert was even better. rise against's album appeal to reason is very gooooood. death cab's narrow stairs is up there.

that can also depend from what album. To be honest, their debut, Von, was atrocious. I couldn't stand. But Ageatus Bryjun was an amazing and beautifully written album. Pretty much from that album and up their music has been phenomonal.
You should really check out the album Takk.. It's very relaxing.
To be honest, i am very surprised that you didn't like them. They seemed right up your alley... allie. hahah

Drew, are you into Americium Outshout Empiricist?
I have never heard of them. Knowing you, you probably made them up to get a few laughs out of you and Charlie. ha. But if i am wrong, I will check them out. They sound interesting by the name alone. :)

No man, I'm serious. They've got a similar vibe to Uninert Fluidity. They're kinda indie-pop.
Ok so kinda like Makin County Line? They have a good beat to them. I also hear Barramunda Wine was to release a new album this year. i think it's calleed Dance to the Unitinerant Paleopsychic or something weird lke that.
