Money stuffed in bra saves woman caught in shootout

MONEY stuffed in a woman's bra saved her life after she was shot aboard a bus in the northeastern Brazilian state of Bahia, local media reported today.

The incident took place on Saturday in Bahia's capital, Salvador, where 58-year-old Ivonete Pereira was shot in the chest by one of two attackers who tried to rob the bus.

She was travelling to her summer home in the nearby town of Lauro de Freitas and because of frequent bus attacks in the region, she hid 150 reals ($95) in 20- and 10-real notes coiled inside the left side of her bra.

When the bus passed through the Boca do Rio neighbourhood, the robbers suddenly announced their intention. A shootout ensued with a police officer on the scene and a stray bullet hit Pereira.

Her bra was stuffed with just enough cash to absorb most of the impact, although she still had to be taken to hospital to have the bullet removed.

A retired sergeant was gunned down during the shooting with the assailants, who managed to escape.

Hahaha i do that at the air port all the time just incase anyone pick pockets my purse or something. How crazy though that it saved her

what if the bullet didnt hit the money this lady would of been seriouly injured so she is very lucky she had that money to save her life

I find this inncident to be an absolute miracle! The mere decision to stash your cash in your bra, saving your life. I'm sure the elderley women is so thankful of her decison and i beleive instead of stashing cash in our wallets we should put some in our bra's to save us from a sniper.

haha, this reminds me of the story
just a week ago, where a women was saved because
her padded wonder bra.

hahaha bra's work for multiple tasks.
as a storage, and to save your life.

that women should be thankful to her
bra and money.
