A Holocaust survivor claims in a new book that Anne Frank distracted younger children from the horrors of a Nazi concentration camp by telling them fairy tales an account disputed by at least one Frank authority and a childhood friend of the diarist.
Berthe Meijer, now 71 says that Anne had a gift for story telling and her fairy tales she told during their time in the concentration camp really helped her through that time of struggle.
What do you think about the holocaust?
Do you think Anne Frank should be regarded as an international hero?
The Holocaust was a horrible thing that happened. I think that Anne Frank and her family should be heroes. They were not afraid to hide from the Nazis. That is a brave thing.
The concentration camps created by the Nazis were obviously atrocious acts, but many, many jews escaped the horrors of the concentration camps. In society, people tend to have the need to exalt people and make them their voice, I don't see why Anne Frank would be a hero over any other survivor.
Anne Frank made heroism even in a little way. If she is to be such a hero, I think it should not be a major thing since it is unfair to the other victims of the dreadful holocaust.
I think the holocaust was a horrible, horrible thing that should have never happened. I do think the Anne Frank was an amazing little girl though. So sad that she died so young because she would have been such a benefial person in history. Though i do think that all of the people in those concentration camps were hero's not just Anne Frank. She was absolutely amazing but so were many, many people. I respect her and loved reading her diary but i feel that all of the people who were persecuted during the time of the holocaust were hero's for what they went through, not just her.
I think that she should viewed as a hero because her story told of the horrors that they had to deal with in the holocaust and how they were able to stick it out. It took a lot of courage and i think that she should be rcognized for it.
The holocause was an outragious sign of intolerance and that we should learn from such disasters. When we learn history, it shouldn't be just to learn but to apply it to now! I think Anne Frank was great, but so were many others that went through this tragedy.
I hate that holocaust. In the summer I was taking the bus home from the beach with my friend. A man with his girlfriend came on the bus. The guy had a swasticka on his neck. My friend and I gave him a dirty look the whole time. I hate the holocaust with a burning passion. Any man who could live with murdering over 5 million people should have a fate worse than death. Seriously. Suprises me how people can still have a swasticka tatooed on them. Do you think these people support the killing of over 11 million people? I can't picture anyone wanting blood on their hands like that. As for Anne Frank I do not think she shold be a hero. She was good but not a hero.

well, i dont think it matters how Anne Frank told these stories. she was in the holocaust, anybody else would have tried to lighten up what was seen and heard there. this person who is bagging on Anne Frank needs to get over it.
I do not consider Anne Frank to be hero for the simple fact that there were many many people who were probably in the same exact situation as her, if not very similar.
Reminds me of Liesel from the Book Thief... What she did is really heartwarming and adds something to her life, but her acts wouldn't be considered "heroic."
