Joe Paterno Fired

Joe Paterno got fired yesterday. Paterno said he will be retiring after the season was over but that was not the case. thousands of students and supporters of Paterno are gathered at State Collage, PA. along with other places.

do you think he should have been fired? do you also think there should be riots?

No, I think they should have politetely nudged him in the direction of leaving his position as head coach. As we talked about yesterday, he did his job, just didn't go the extra mile to really get it done.

He didn't commit the crime you can't fire someone for not taking action. The riot should have been expected since he was fired for unjust reasons.

I think the rioters arent looking at the facts against Joe Paterno and they are just going off how his career went as a coach. His great career at Penn State doesnt determine if he gets fired or not...what determines it is your actions or the lack of actions you do while your under a microscope

what reasons were unjust, how could you morally have a sexual offender coaching your team? you have to talk to the police if nothing gets done! He deserved to get fired, he isnt sending the right message to his teamates, children (We have to protect them, THEY ARE OUR FUTURE), If anyone displays the lack of judgement hes done, there has to be a punishment

I am coming to the conclusion that the university did the right thing. Even though Paterno reported it, he knew about it the whole time and continued to hire the guy as part of his staff. He is at fault that the matter was not brought to the attention of the authorities. I love Joe and what he did for their school, but he messed up and it justly cost him his job.

i think it was the right decision you cant keep someone who knew about this and have people cheering for him on the weekends . He will definitely be one of the great ones and its going to be hard for Penn state

i think it will be extremely difficult to get past the emotional side of the situation. They will try to just get through this week and see what happens. Or they will prove me wrong and try to win one for coach paterno and become more motivated

I dont think that he should've gotten fired, he was going to retire after the season anyway so why not just let him finish the season up.

I think that it is the right thing to fire him. I don't understand what head coach could know that his assistant coach is doing this, and not once ever talk to him about the matter.

the reason why they fired him instead of letting him retire at the end of the season is because its Penn State would be saying its ok to do a crime if your going to retire at the end of the year. There needs to be a punishment.
