A federal judge saved Mississippi's only abortion clinic from being closed due to a new law that was passed that requires doctors at abortion clinics to have admitting privileges at local hospitals. This law was designed to protect women, but some people were hoping it would be a way to close this clinic, since the doctors do not have admitting privileges.
The judge stated that closing the clinic would result in women needing to leave the state in order to obtain a legal abortion, and it would be a "patchwork system in which the process is legal in only parts of the country."
Although this law would force the clinic to close due to its diction, I disagree completely woth its forced closure. Many states, not to name them but i am looking at you southern states, are trying very hard to ban abortion without actually banning it. What I mean is that they are passing laws, like this, that make it virtually impossible to legally operate an abortion clinic.

Just so everyone knows, "admitting privileges" are doctor's abilities to call nearby hospitals and ask them to save a bed for someone that is coming in from the doctor's office.
I believe that everyone has the right to an abortion weather i agree with it or not. Its your life and your choices and if you wanna abort a child i don't think that anyone has the the right to take that away from you. Weather people agree or not with your decision.
To close the only abortion clinic sounds pretty drastic. Although i guess you could just travel out of state and get the abostion done by another doctor.
What a smart judge. I'm glad that he saw to it that the clinic was not closed because like he said women would have to find someone else that could perform an abortion for them. Also, I think that when times are desperate it is necessary for women to be able to get an abortion.
