Mixed Mutts and Designer Dogs: Healthier Than Purebred Pets?

According to conventional wisdom, mixed-breed dogs and cats are healthier than their purebred counterparts. On the surface, it makes sense: Dip too often into a shallow gene pool and the pet is more likely to inherit health problems. It is assumed that mixed breeds are less likely to get disorders such as hip displaysia, epilepsy, and cancer. Even breeders that are certified dont take too much care in their dogs health problems at a later age because all they want to do is make a profit. Its easy to sell someone a pure bred poodle for a $1,000 and not care about the genetics of said poodle.

I adopted a dog a little over 3 years ago. He is my angel and I love him soooo much! People always say that rescue dogs have behavior issues, but if you met Koby you would not say that. He wouldn't hurt a fly. And I don't see a need to buy dogs for $2,000. Thats rediculous

I have two dogs and a cat, and they are all rescue. They are just as amazing as purebred. I have never understood the fascination with purebreeds. They are less healthy, and mixed breeds are just as sweet, caring, and pretty.
