I am extremely excited for prom... but going dress shopping and figuring out all the costs of it all... it is awfully expensive. Do you guys think that this has become a money sucker, from the ticket prices to the limo to the dress, hair and makeup????
Well the tickets have to be that expensive. Dresses are very cheap if you know where to look. You don't have to take a limo, you can do your own hair and makeup.
For girls obvious its more money because we do more stuff and have more to buy but doesnt mean you have to go the expensive route. There is always ways to cut coners to make your prom experience just as great but not quiet as expensive. :)
it is expensive, but it also depends on what you are doing. if you want to get your hair and make-up done, or a spray tan, then you are obviously going to be spending more money. there are ways to make it more affordable.
Last year's Visa (V) Prom Spending Survey found thatfamilies spent an average of $807 on the event. Spending varied widely by region, from $1,073 in the West to just $542 in the South. And prom is getting significantly pricier. According to USA Today, spending on the spring formal is set to rise this year to an average of $1,078.
Without revealing your personal budgeting, does that sound right to you?

P.S. And "Prom on a Budget" is, unsurprisingly, a whole Pinterest category. :)
