Killer Bees sting Texas man to death

A Texas man was stung over 1,000 times on Saturday when his tractor disturned a hive of Africanized bees. His daughter and neighbors rushed to help, getting stung over 100 times themselves. Allan Miller, whose company removed the hive after the attack, said he has seen more killer bees in the past few weeks than he usually sees in a year. Killer bees are believed to have entered Texas in 1990 and have since spread to 10 other states including California and Florida.

Why do you think there are more killer bees lately than there normally are? Do you think we should be worried about killer bees?

I have watched discovery channel films about how bees are being more aggressive for basically no reason. This only makes me more afraid of them, even though I have only been stung one. It was freahman year....I sat on a bee. I hadn;t seen the bee and I thought my leg was going to fall off. it was the wprst pain ever! Luckily it only lasted about 10 minutes.

Too bad for this man. Maybe people should stop knocking over bee hives and angering bees.

How sad! Poor guy. He was just doing his everyday routine & then bam. What a painful way to die too. I don't think we can really do anything about it right now, especially with the decline in bee populations, when we need them to pollinate crops & things. Just a very unfortunate occurance.

Regular bees aren't that scary i think. I u dont bother them, they dont bother you. I once had a bee land on the rim of my collar in sixth grade. I didnt even notice it was there until someone pointed it out to me. I never stung me or anything, it just sat there. Killer bees on the other hand, are scary. They attack for seemingly no reason, and can easily kill a man.

The thing with killer bees is they don't die when they sting you unlike honey bees...so they can have a much bigger 'bite' per bee than most others which means they can easily kill a man who has angered them, poor guy...

I remember seeing something about how to deal with them, I think you just have to lay down and play dead.. eventually they will leave you alone... or sting you to death!
