Hello Students and School Administrators,

This will be the 26th year that the Loyal Order of Moose will be giving out the Moose Youth Awareness Scholarships. The Moose Youth Awareness Program is for freshmen, sophomores, juniors and seniors that show leadership skills and want to become involved in their communities. A total of $30,000 in Scholarships will be awarded to High School Students. The Students will be required to give a minimum of three "Kids Talks" to 4-9 year-olds, encouraging them to make wise and healthy choices in life. They will have until February 15, 2014 to complete and submit a written report on their presentations. Those Students who complete and submit three "Kids Talks" presentations and written reports will receive from the California/Nevada Moose Associations a $50.00 Visa Card. Also the student that submits the most presentations and written reports from this Congress will receive Two Disneyland Tickets.

The top two students with the best written reports from southern California will be flown to the International Youth Awareness Congress will stay and be shown the historical city of Gettysburg,Pennsylvania from May 1st - 5th. At the conclusion of the International Congress, five students will be selected by the attendees to receive scholarships. The awards are: first, a $12,000 scholarship; second, an $8,000 scholarship; third, a $5,000 scholarship; fourth, a $3,000 scholarship; and fifth, a $2,000 scholarship for any college of their choice.

If you know of any student, (grades 9th, 10th, 11th, 12th) that would be interested in this scholarship, have them contact me and I will send them a Moose Youth Awareness Program Application for Consideration form. It must be sent back to me by October 8, 2013. Our Association Youth Awareness Congress will be held on Saturday October 12, 2013 at the Buena Park Moose Lodge, 8651 Knott Avenue, Buena Park, CA 90620. It will start with registration at 9:00 AM and should end before 2:00 PM. At the Congress we will have from the city of Buena Park, Mayor Beth Swift and Police Chief Corey Sianez along with his K9 unit as guest speakers. When the dog barks everyone pays attention, he was big hit last year.We will also explain in detail of the Moose Kids Talk program. The Buena Park Moose will provide pastries, juice, milk etc., along with a lunch at no cost to the students.
