Unique Home

In a New Zealand prison a home built by prisoners was given to a family in need, a first in New Zealand. A prisoner spoke about his experience saying, "Being able to give to this family and the community is a good thing for us. A lot of the boys are pretty proud of themselves," he said. The prison hope to help the prisoners from re-offending. Very different from all the news we hear today.

Ahhh, New Zealand. The most hospitable country in the world. It's like Australia's Canada

That is so cool! And a great produtive and meaningful thing for the prisoners to do, and maybe give them a change of heart.

that is an unbelievably great idea. it gives a family a home and gives the prisoners a chance to build something that will help people greatly.

That's a very unique way to essentially rehabilitate the prisoners while they're still in prison and provide for the less fortunate. Definitely a win win situation.

This is great! It helps both the family and the inmates feel like they are working for a greater cause. This activity probably taught them to work together and to help others instead of just sitting in cells all day.

It seems like the prisoner really enjoyed this experience. Our prisoners should do more projects like these and have our prisoners be more productive to give back to the community. These projects are great especially since it could possibly prevent prisoners from re-offending.

Maybe this will inspire other prisons to have their inmates do productive things for others too

It's good to see that prisoners are changing the sterotype of all prisoners being terrible criminals that do nothing for the community.
