Mother with dementia 'warehoused,' daughter says

An elderly Canadian woman with dementia has been "Warehoused" in acute care hospitals. The elderly woman's daughter has spoken out saying she was strapped to a geriatric chair and left in a hallway alone on most days. The hospital is apperantly very crowded and understaffed which is why the woman was not given proper care.

How do you think the overcrowding problem in hospitals can be solved to better treat the patients?

I couldn't image leaving a women in need out to die, just because they are over crowded.

I know the hospitals were understaffed, but they need to put more effort in to avoid doing this to their patients.

this is horrible! the hospital should take better care of the patients and not let them be alone and not leave them alone.

This isn't right. Some hospitals don't think of their patients first.

You would think, well rather expect, that a hospital would see that they are overcrowded and understaffed and would change that. The fact that this one hasn't is atrocious.

This overcrowding situation needs to be solved immediately especially since this women has dementia, these conditions could be severely detrimental to her health and safety. The only solution I think that can solve this problem is by transferring the various patients to other nearby hospitals.
