Ukraine protest movement: At least 4 killed in clashes with police

At least four people have been shot dead and hundreds injured amid ongoing clashes with police over new laws limiting the right to protest in Ukraine. Interior Ministry says 195 police officers have been injured, 84 hospitalized. The controversial new protest laws have sparked concerns they could be used to put down demonstrations and deny people the right to free speech. They include provisions barring people from wearing helmets and masks to rallies, from setting up tents or sound equipment without prior police permission, and from traveling in convoys of more than five vehicles without authorization

What do you guys think of the new limits on protesting? Have the police used excessive force? Do you think these riots will escalate into something worse?

I think these people have a right to protest against these new laws. It seems as if the government is trying to infringe on their right to freedom of speech. While these restrictions may not be too durastic, they may be the first step in restraining the freedom of speech of the Ukranian people. If these laws are not taken back, I think that the prostests will escalate until the problem is solved.

These people have every right to protest against their government. If they are that unhappy something obviously needs to be done, and if the police and government continue reacting this way nothing will be solved.

I am saddened by what is going on in Ukraine. I know protests happen everywhere, but it's a different story when you actually came from that place. I hope the people reach an agreement with their government soon, so that the violence will quiet down and stop. The laws don't seem too strict now, but they might get stiffer if more disturbances continue.

Though the people do have right to protest some of the laws make sense, not allowing masks can help the police in an investigation if something more serious were to happen, though maybe they are infringing a bit too much of their rights at least some of their reasons why make sense to me...
