Chinese lawyer Xu Zhiyong is currently on trial for campaigning against corruption. Xu Zhiyong is charged with "gathering crowds to disrupt public order". His lawyer Zhang Qingfang says that a fair trial is "unlikely" and calling on five witnesses to testify have been restricted by police. Mr Zhiyong is a leading advocate of a group to make government officals reveal thier wealth.
Reading this article we have to be greatfull of the rights we have and the life we have too.
As Americans we are definitly lucky to have freedom of speech and the right to protest our opinion. But Xu Zhiyong probably knew what he was getting into. And it's sad that China is so stricked.
We definitely should be very grateful of the rights and freedom which we have here in America. I'm not surprised that Xu Zhiyong is being charged and it disappoints me he is not getting a fair trial. It is extremely unjust that China is limiting his democratic freedom.
Though I hope everything works out for him the likely hood of that actually happening is very slim which sucks especially since what he's speaking out against is something we expect everyone to be able to have as a right...
Ya i agree we have to love all the freedom and rights we have. just its sad to see at times others abuse there rights or not use them(such as voting). Also its sad to see such a huge and powerful nation like china treat a citizen like this but then again there are probably people who don't want this man around because he is causing problems for them i hope he ends up getting acquitted and goes back to fighting for his cause.
