Pope speaks out against sexual abuse Criticism against the church

Last month the UN criticized the Vatican for not being successful in reducing sexual abuse cases from catholic church members. The pope stated that although the number of cases are high the Vatican is making a huge effort to help stop sexual abuse.

Do you think the Vatican should be held responsible for not being able to stop its members from committing sexual crimes?

I do not think the Vatican should be held responsible for not being able to stop its members from committing sexual crimes. Though it is a huge problem it is not necessarily the Vatican's fault. They are doing what they can to stop it but that does not mean they will be successful anytime soon if at all. I believe it is important for them to do what they can to stop it but if they cannot they should not be held responsible.

I do not think the Vatican should be held completely responsible. I do think the Vatican needs too put more effort into this subject though

I don't think it is up to the Vatican I mean it's not like it is in the catholic doctrine that sexual actions are right. It isn't up to the Vatican.

I believe the Vatican should be held responsible because people trust church officials and priests to be people of God and shouldn't have to worry about sexual abuse. This should be an important issue to the Vatican because these people directly reflect them and the church.

The church should not be held responsible. They outwardly profess their opinion and that is enough. It is not their fault if there is no decrease in the homosexuality rates. The Catholic tradition is known and already hinders many from speaking out.

I dont think he should be held responsible for what they have done. However should obviously need of change in something because the crime is not reducing.

I think its society's responsibility to stop creating pedophiles not the church. The church is just where they go to get access to young children where they can abuse them.... we as a society need to send the message that if you are a pedophile you will get caught and there is no where to hide. I think we should kill child molesters, that will make people reconsider whether or not to sexually abuse children. Not paying for them to live in prison that's sends the wrong message.
