Alpha Squad : Sydney siege: Victim was 'hit by police bullet'

Katrina Dawson was 38-years old when killed by fragments of a police bullet that ricocheted and hit her in the heart and shoulder. It is reported that she was one of two killed when officers stormed the cafe where Man Horon Monis was holding 17 hostages. Tori Jonson, the manager of the cafe, was shot in the head by gunman who forced the hostages to wave an Islamic flag during the standoff. Tori was said to have been trying to take away the gunman's gun in order to save the hostages.  During the whole attack, four people suffered gun shot wounds and so did one cop. The Islamic shooter was shot and pronounce dead. After his death, the Islamic state praised his actions through propaganda and magazines.

My question is, Does this level of violence that the Islamic terrorist group have commit and influence, need a better plan to stop? We have seen countless acts and incidents involving the Islamic terrorist group and is what we are doing as a whole, good enough? Or is there acts so diabolical that the only way to stop then is for themselves to stop? Are we out of options? Thoughts?

Also was Katrina Dawson accidental death preventable? Or was the situation bigger than her?

In any of these situations, I personally believe a bit of retaliation is warranted against these terrorists. Not to the extent of trying to kill them, but enough action to show that their acts against us will not change what we believe in. They need to understand they are welcome in this world, but they aren't the only ones living in it.

We should definitely look for the best ways possible to stop these extremist groups. I think Katrina Dawson's death was not preventable considering how close she was to the gunman.

This is heartbreaking. Its hard to say, because what can we do? I am glad that I'm not the president, because I have NO idea what should be done.

I don't think that what we're doing is enough, but usually it's all we can do because we don't want to kill innocent people in the process of dealing with terrorists who blend in with everyone else. I do think that education is a good nonviolent way to put a stop to a lot of it, but it's not going to stop all of it. In addition, I do not think Katrina Dawson's death was preventable. She was sadly in the wrong place at the wrong time.

When these extreme terrorist acts are taking place we must do everything we can to suppress these cats and keep innocent lives safe. We should not tolerate any terrorism from any people, if somebody is in danger.. including many others in this instance, in order to save police lives and possible citizens we should take any measure.
we can not tolerate, or negotiate in anyway. if these people will ever learn. it may have to be through force and violence.

In hostage situations, these kinds of casualties are never 100% preventable. And when the hostage taker is a terrorist, I doubt that it would ever end anyway other than him dying whether it be suicide or a shootout. We need to be more committed. At home we should arrest those who come back from fighting along side ISIS, or like the Paris terrorists, training with al-Qaeda in Yemen. ISIS and their sympathizers often claim that they want something along the lines of a global Caliphate, aka world domination and should be treated accordingly.

I dont really think that anything we can do can stop them because we don't know when things like this happen and when it happens its too late. This is a very serious and difficult problem to deal with which will take a lot of time and thought. Although they need to stop these acts i think it would take lots of time for them to realize its just causing more problems but at the same time we must do something about it also.
