Cavannites: Argentina president posts tweet mocking Chinese accent

The president of Argentina posted on Twitter, replacing the letter "r" with the letter "l," so it sounded like she was saying lice and petloleum, instead of rice and petroleum. The tweet got over 4,000 retweets. She then apologized with this tweet, "Sorry. You know what? It's just that things are so excessively ridiculous and absurd. They can only be digested with humor. ..."

Do you think this is appropriate/professional for the president of a country to say?

shes the president, she can do whatever she wants. whether citizens like us agree or disagree, its not going to change anything. i think its fine for a president to be humorous sometimes

I don't think it was appropriate for the president of Argentina to have Tweeted what she did. Although these racist remarks are at no time and place appropriate, the President's decision to do so publicly was highly unprofessional.

If you read the article it states that she was in China when she posted the tweet. I think a tweet like that is disrespectful for a president to say and is not the way you should be treating any host.

I don't think this was professional in any way and it's a reflection of her insensitivity. Her job is to be the President of Argentina, not a comedian.

No this is not professional in anyway, you would expect this kind of thing from teens, not presidents of other countries.

This tweet was unprofessional and inappropriate. It may have been meant as a harmless joke but it reflects poorly on the country she represents and considering she was there to ask for help she should have thought twice about what she posted.

definitely not appropriate or professional. She needs to respect others, especially when she has such a high position.

Presidents are of very high power and should be role models to the people they govern. They should always be of their best behavior and never be insulting towards other people it shows that they are completely un-professional and questions if they could handle being of that high of power.

I feel like it is unprofessional to be making fun of anyone if you are the President. There's a time and place when it's okay but not online where everyone can see it. Plus it could insult people and she will lose respect for that. She needs to earn respect from people not comedy fame.

I think it is very appropriate. He simply covered up his mistake with humor. The fact that he is a leader doesn't matter, he's still a human! (:

I think that it was very inappropriate for her to tweet something like that. I also don't think that her apology wasn't really an apology at all but more like a way to explain why she thought it was right to say what she said.

I do not think this tweet was acceptable was acceptable whatsoever. She is the president , not just another citizen. People actually pay attention to the stuff she says

She can do what she wants but she needs to remember she represents people beyond her self. The tweet was unprofessional and inappropriate.

Any person who is high enough in the political spectrum to be noticed needs to be careful of what they say and how they say it. However in this case, she was the PRESIDENT OF A NATION! To put racial remarks in a tweet towards another leader is basically mocking that entire race/ethnicity.
