Kodies-Lookit who is using more coal, despite global warming

According to the OC register, in Civitavecchia, Italy a major energy producer for the entire country ENEL, is switching from oil to coal energy production.  Although much cheaper and easier to produce, coal emits so much CO2 into the air that it has earned the title "the dirtiest fuel" and has been deemed one of the soul contributors to global warming.

Furthermore, Italy is not alone in this switch, many other European countries are also changing from oil to coal production.  Thusly, the US is falling somewhat behind in the international feed of energy production due to the recent restrictions of the new "green" laws that have been put into play.

Should the US drop these restrictions in order to keep up at the international level of energy?

i think that the large presence of corporations such as green peace and all that wouldnt stand for such a change in these restrictions, so i dont think it matters wat we think, because it is very unlikely that they will be able to pass the laws necessary to drop the restrictions

I think the US shouldn't switch to coal too, because, as it sais, it is harmful for the atmosphere, and if there are enough oil sources, it should be left it as it is. At least until scientists will find out how to reduce the effect of CO2.

Absolutely not. Global warming and the limited quantity we have a natural resources should make it clear to the United States, as a super power, to not follow these European actions. I agree with Scott that, no matter what we say, these restrictions will not be dropped. Too many corporations and members of government are aware of the dangers of global warming. Los Angeles used to have such a dirty atmosphere that instead of snow days there would be smog days, why would we do something that could send us back to that level of pollution? Pollution is harmful in the here and now, if the global warming argument doesn't sway you.

NO! stay green! just because countries such as Italy are trying to be trend setters and go for new feul, they are getting what they are paying for cheap + easy = pollution = a dirtier future!

us Americans are way to smart to follow a stupid trend like that!... right?

nonononono, i think we should further enhance our 'green' rules and come up with bigger, better forms of energy.
windpower anyone? and what about solar? they are magnificent things and can help our world out so much.

I agree with Allie. We should focus on cleaner sources of energy. We should really look into wind and solar.

We'll never be green unless congress makes it a law.

We definetly need to go green to save endangered species and it would also help stop global warming.

i think to even consider dropping our "green" laws just to keep up with other countries is a very dangerous thought. i think that the world is starting down a very slippery slope...

I dont think we should follow their new ways. we stand for fighting against global warming. its just silly to think we would do that because alot of other countries are... they are only making things worse.

The world is already so messed up. I could see how this wouldn't be that big of a deal 20 years, 10, years, or even 5 years ago but times have changed. It is important to do all we can in order to slow global warming, and I don't think that a "we can do whatever we want" attitude is acceptable anymore.

I think that we should stay "green". So many people have faught for the earth, and taking down the laws just to keep up with other counrtires is ignorant. We are already a wealthy county, and the earth in general is more important than keeping up with a forgein country.

Global warming...... biggest joke i have ever heard! While going green is important, global warming is just about the stupidest thing i have ever heard. The Earth goes through natural cycles, end of story. Germany proved that man has no effect on global warming, the earth and solar cycles determine it.
