Sen. Chambers of Nebraska, is suing "the Almighty", God, for what he claims are acts of violence, such as tornadoes and earthquakes. The judge in the case has tossed out the file, saying that "Chambers can't sue God if he can't serve papers on him." Chambers claims that he is making a point that anybody can sue anybody, and that frivolous lawsuits shouldnt be restricted.Chambers stated, "State senators. My main objective is that the constitution requires that the doors to the courthouse be open to all."
what do you think should be done in this case? Does Sen. Chambers have the ability to sue God? Is this just a big waste of judicial time and should this be ignored? Should the lawsuits be allowed for all frivolous cases?
well yeah it is true that anybody can sue anybody, however sueing God is weird. the judge is human, after all, imagine how he would feel, if he is a religious person if God would be found out guilty...anyway, earthquakes are necessary, that man knows that if he went to school. I dont know anything about tornadoes, but I guess mother nature didnt make such cataclysms just for fun. and sueing god is like sueing your imaginary friends
I think the judge was right to throw out this case for the obvious reasons and without going too far down some kind of philosophical/theological rabbit hole, no he doesn't have the ability to sue God. I definitely think this case should be ignored. I don't know whats going on in Nebraska but there has to be something more pressing than suing someone who arguably doesn't even exist. This senator seems to be trying to make a name for himself more than anything, just doing it to say he did it. And finally, in the case of personal stupidity/frivolous lawsuits... if you order a drink that is made to be hot (i.e. coffee), don't be surprised that it burns your tongue when you suck it down.
I think that frivolous lawsuits are one thing, but sueing God is just stupid. That is not literally possible and cannot be done, no matter what some senator says. God cannot be sued.
first off, i think its best when religion stays out of the judicial as well as any other branch of government entirely. second, this is a complete waste of our governments time, they dont need to spend their days taking cases that are only there to "prove a point" especially when the point is so miniscule
I do believe this is a ridiculous case, but obviously the sen. Chambers of Nebraska was just using this to show the importance of having the state judiciary system open to everyone which i believe is awsome amen to that! i believe that everyone SHOULD have a voice, even though it may seem frivolous i believe its what makes our country great to voice our oppinions. i think people are misunderstanding this article, i think the court was right to throw it out and that maybe this wasn't necessay for court but still i think it shows what a great country we have that everyone has a voice even if you are insane.
this is insane. you can't accuse a being that isn't physically in front of you (and may or may not even exist) for natural disasters. it's like suing science for nature. what was he even thinking?
Ok this is ridiculous. It was right for this case to be thrown out and i believe that sueing has gotten way out of hand. You can sue places for making you fat when you were the one who chose to eat there everyday, you can sue someone if you break your arm on their property even though you were the one who chose to go on their property. I think our government needs to make the rules more strtict when it comes to taking someone else's money.
omg are you serious??? like the judge said u can't sued him if you can't give him the papers. i think this is a big waste of time and personally i don't believe god controls the weather.

This was a case to prove a point, which may very well be valid in his thinking, but it is seriously a waste of time. God is not a tangible being. Regardless if he exists. Besides, religion should be miles away from any form of government.
this is ridiculous. i understand he is trying to prove a point but thats pretty disrespectful to god. hah well if you believe in Him ...wouldnt that be rude of sen. chambers to sue his maker? this is a waste of time.
HAHAHA am i hearing, what i think im hearing!?!? Whatttt! This is Ridiculous, and should be ignored. The Sen. Chambers of Nebraska should go to Mexico and build churches there. Yup!
Perhaps it wasn't the wisest of Beings to sue. If he is trying to make a point, it probably isn't a good idea to sue God because such a thing is obviously very ridiculous (Unless it was Bruce Almighty, of course...) If i were him, i would have filed a case on a stray cat... and it would have made the same point...
Chambers.... Pfffft!

I don't agree with the point he is trying to make. People shouldn't be able to sue whoever they want whenever they want. People take advantage of the system or pawn off responsibility. instead of saying, "I have been eating McDonalds and junk food too much and now I'm fat. I should stop eating junk and start working out." they decide to sue McDonalds for making them fat.
