Goodbye Kim, Hello nuclear holocaust (perhaps)

                                                                         0_62_112906_NKorea_KimJongIl.jpg

South Korean intelligence officials say that Kim Jong Il has suffered a "serious" setback in his recovery from a stroke in August and the resultant brain surgery. He missed a military parade celebrating N. Korea's 60th anniversary in September and wasn't seen for the nearly 2 months since then. North Korea denies these reports saying that Kim isn't "physically  perfect" but is still able to rule the country.

In the past Kim has been known to keep out of sight when tensions are high over his nuclear arms. But, with his recent stroke and no publicly named successors, concerns about an unstable, impoverished nuclear-armed nation loom.

If Kim does indeed pass, and violence insues in a bid for the power, what is the responsibility of the global community to keep nuclear arms out of potentially extremely dangerous hands verses respecting the rights of a nation and their sovereignty?

that is such a loaded question it could be answered in so many ways... i think itd be wrong for only the united states to do something cause then we look like the world police again and thats annoying so maybe if alot of countries came together to stop anything bad from happening that would be a good idea. im kinda scared that before he dies he will go all out and crazy with those nukes. :o!

It definitely isn't good that Kim, already crazy as he was, is now more so with some crazy weapons. I think your hypothesis, Jer Jer, could perhaps be correct.

But i gotta say, that picture looks flippin' awesome. If i were a dictator like he is, i would so sport the Overly-serious-with-awesome-shades picture with my
militant cronies...

i believe that the UN should intervene in the situation, if something were to go wrong, but if they refused i believe we should do so, even if we look like the police of the world. Nuclear Weaponry isnt something to messed around with, and the idea of those being in unstable hands is terrifying.

The UN needs to do everything it can to make sure that his successor isn't some radical who likes to launch nukes around the world.
