{kodies} Bahaimian Parliment debates Electronic Monitoring of Convicts

Parliments in The Bahamas began a debate Monday on the government's bill to amend the country's Penal Code to allow Electronic Monitoring of convicts and persons on bail awaiting trial. While this will take away some of the privacy of the people, its said to be a revolutionary provision described as an effective weapon in the fight against crime.

Idea: the Bill gives the court the power to order that a convict be subject to electronic monitoring for a further period of up to five years after his release from prison on the expiration of his prison sentence.

Do they have the right to pass this bill?
Will this aid in law enforcement?

i think it's a good idea to keep track of where they are because they can just skip parole, but it does impede on their rights and freedom, but then again they are convicts and commiting a crime impedes on other people's rights as well. so i don't know. this is a tough one.

I think that would be a good thing to do, it may even help in the fight against crime.

It sounds like a pretty good idea. This would probibly lower crime and that's always good.
