Obama and China

China looks forward to Obama being president as a way to reduce America-China tensions that were created during the Bush administration. Obama had expressed earlier that he hoped the easing tensions would help expand economic ties. With China also gaining a new leader, there is no reason for bitterness and therefore more optimism.

Do you think that both leaders wil continue, after a fresh start, to remain allies?

taiwan is a different nation though... I am confused. Are you talking about the Republic of China, or the PEOPLE's Republic of China?

Two different places.

China/Taiwan; China/Tibet; China/USA...tricky and sticky diplomatic/political/economic relationships all around!

This is a nice little discussion of China/Taiwan if it's helpful to anyone:

and this provides a little more information about China's perspective on the issue:

i think it's going to be easier for obama to ease tensions with china because the chinese people are very excited that he is president.
