Bluemangroup-150 whales dead in Australia

Despite rescue efforts, 150 whales died in a mass beaching on Australia's coast.  The estimate was originally 80.  A few were able to be steered back into the ocean, but most were badly injured by the rocks.  This happens periodically in Australia and New Zealand due to disturbances of the echo pattern allegedly by human influence.

Should anyone be held responsible?  Should the government be taking an active role in finding the cause and stopping it?

yeah i think the government does have some responsiblity to determine what is causing the whales to beach, because otherwise thats animal cruelty. and thats just not cool.

Hmm well. I agree with Emily that the government does have a responsibility to determine whether or not it was caused my human influence. But I don't think that people would do this intentionally so no one should be held responsible. But there could be group that is willing take up research and try to figure out a way to prevent this.

I definitely think the government should be figuring out something to do to help, but they can only do so much...

it is the governments responsiblity to stop this from reoccurring. I'm interested if it really in human influence, or just a tragic natural occurrence. I can't think of a cause from humans that would produce this result. But I wouldn't be surprised.

well i think it is definatly possbile that this is created by humans because even with a previous article, it was proven that war submarines send off a sound that makes whales so afraid that they will dive to deep to crush themselves to death. So i wouldn't be surprised if something man made would be causing whales to beach themselves.
