Germany inching closer to Medical Marijuana

http://stopthedrugwar.org/chronicle/564/germany_arseus_fargron_medical_marijuana

Germany is now allowing handleful of patients to start recieving marijuana from a beligum firm
Only a few countries have a full membership o medical marijuana

What do you think on the use of marijuana?
Is it only useful for medical reasons?
Or should it be legal under all circumstances?
Do you think more countries should allow it?

I think medical marijuana should be available to those who really need it. But it needs some strict restrictions so it's not abused by recreational users.

i personally do not like the idea of marijuana at all; but it's none of my buisness if other people want to use it. if people believe that it will help them with their medical issue then they should go to a doctor and see what the proffesional has to say and listen to him/her.

I think both medical and recreational marijuana should be legalized. Medically it helps people and there is no reason it should not be legalized (morphine is medical herion, should that be illegal?). Recreationally it is less harmful then both alcohol and cigarettes. Also legalizing it would cut off a huge revenue stream for criminals (especially in Mexico), reduce money spent on the war on drugs, decrease crowding in jails and create more money from taxation.

Isn't Medical Marijuana legal in some places in the United States?

Marijuana is used to relieve pain in patients with chronical conditions. It isn't going to be sold without prescriptions, and it can help people who really need such strong pain relievers.

a benefit of having it legal is being able to place taxes on it. good for the economy bad for the stoners

I agree that it should be legalized medically and recreationally. It would minimize the war on drugs drastically. Tax the ever loving daylights out of it. Economy help is always lovely. If you aren't into smoking, you aren't going to purchase it. If you are it depends how inelastic your demand for it is. Thats my two cents. The Germans get down.

i think mary - j is fine, i think it would be good though if we left it for medical use only. because in california we have it legal for medical use and i don't believe the use is out of control or that californians are hooked, so i think it should be fine for medical use.

personally im against smoking anything in general, but i believe that if its proven to help people get through pain and other such illnesses, then i believe it should be allowed for those purposes. Then again i dont think this should be an excuse for all the pot heads to get free legal access to it.

I think it shoud be legalized with heavy government regulations. If you get caught driving under the influence, minimum 10 years. It would help to reduce crime. And like others stated, it could be taxed. But if people resell it at a lower price, bring down the hammer of God on them.

i find myself leaning more and more towards the legalization of marijuana
if its legal we can control it, tax it, make a profit, etc

i think its medicinal uses are just a plus

i think marijuana should be legalized completely because it is a moderately effective pain reliever and it really isn't as dangerous as people make it out to be....

Prices would most likely go down.

The study estimates that the average price of 0.5 grams (a unit) of marijuana sold for $8.60 on the street, while its cost of production was only $1.70. In a free market, a $6.90 profit for a unit of marijuana would not last for long. Entrepreneurs noticing the great profits to be made in the marijuana market would start their own grow operations, increasing the supply of marijuana on the street, which would cause the street price of the drug to fall to a level much closer to the cost of production. Of course, this doesn't happen because the product is illegal; the prospect of jail time deters many entrepreneurs and the occasional drug bust ensures that the supply stays relatively low. We can consider much of this $6.90 per unit of marijuana profit a risk-premium for participating in the underground economy. Unfortunately, this risk premium is making a lot of criminals, many of whom have ties to organized crime, very wealthy.

it'd be really hard to tax something thats so easily grown
and i mean i really don't get why cigarettes and alcohol are legal but marijuana isn't?
has there been any reported deaths to marijuana use?
whatevs it makes the patients feel better and theyve already been through a lot so you might as well just let them do what makes them feel good

I totally agree.... I think they should just legallize it.  People use it weather it is legal, illegal, medical, or just for fun. So why doesn't the government just tax it and make money off it...

i agree with everyone who is saying to just legalize it and tax it ans regulate it. mary-jane is a plant not a chemical mixture so i don't see a whole lot wrong with it.

I agree with Becca.

If people wanna smoke herb they are going to do it whether it is legal or not. I don't think if we made it legal people are going to go running wild on a high streak. And also it will help out some food industries as well don't you think?

i think we should legalize it. if cigarettes are legal why is marijuana illegal? it makes no sense to me. and our jails are far too crowded as it is so just let the stoners go- they're only hurting themselves. if they hurt people put them in jail, but if not...
