Blue Suede Wedding Bells?

New York City is taking on Vegas as a quick-wedding destination.

Do drive-through weddings, weddings by Elvis, etc. diminish the institution of marriage or simply infuse a spirit of fun into what is supposed to be a happy event and/or provide a convenient, affordable alternative to the (some would argue out-of-control) wedding industry?

How much money are you willing to spend on your wedding?  Would you rather have a huge, elaborate ceremony or a small, simple one and a great vacation/down payment on a home/some other significant purchase?

I would rather have a wedding with a small amount of people and spend the money elsewhere

My plan is small courthouse wedding...awesome party and honeymoon. I personally think divorce is the only thing that diminishes the institution of marriage. If two people are in love, they can get married however and wherever they want. Who cares?

I don't think anyone really enjoys a wedding that is drawn out and is boring. I want people to do the wave or something at my wedding. Small and quick is the way to go.

well my parents got married in vegas, not for fun, it just happened that they wanted a small wedding so they could save up to buy a house. It shouldn't matter where you get married, but who you are marrying. I personally would like to have a small wedding, because i would rather use the money for something else.

I really don't mind how other people get married but I know that I would not want to say my vows to the person I love through a drive-thru speaker box. And I don't think I would be okay with an Elvis impersonator  announcing my marriage.
I don't want a huge expensive weeding. I'd keep it small and put money towards other important things like a house and a future.

i think marraige is only as serious as one makes it out to be

obviously if a man or woman makes plans to be married in the Crystal Cathedral in which doves erupt behind the stage after they say "i do" and then all 1000 members of the audience blows bubbles as they leave

will be more serious than say a man and woman who only want their families to be present at the park when they say their vows

i think you should have the marraige you want (you being the wife) no matter how big small spontaneous or crazy

I would definitely not want to have my wedding in Vegas.

I would just want to have a modest wedding with a modest reception.

My sister just got married this last summer and her reception was awesome but way too expensive. I do not want something extravagant.
Something small i guess.

a small wedding would be perfect for me :)
i definatly would put money toward a house or for future plans of any kind. As for the vegas/drive- thru wedding i think thats great. Do what you want to do i dont believe its diminishing the institutions of marriage. My grandma and grandpa did it becaue their parents didnt agree and then in the end all worked out !

I don't even know if I want to get married. But if I were to get married I would want a small service and then a huge dance party after that would go all night. Then the honeymoon should be somewhere nice as well, but it's not really that big of a deal since I plan on traveling around the world a  lot anyways.

I wouldn't mind having a wedding in vegas.

If i had my wedding it would be family and close friends.

But honestly a wedding is suppose to be fun so why not have elvis do it.

i just want my family and a few of my close friends (and the groom) to be there with me and i want it to be totally relaxing worry free day. i don't want a big reception either (though a delicious cake is a must) i am however going to splurge on an awesome honeymoon.
