The envelope, please...

The following films have been nominated for Best Picture for this year's Academy Awards:

(check out the full list of nominees at: http://www.oscar.com/media/2009/pdf/OscarPrintableBallot_81st.pdf)

Have you seen any of these movies?  What did you think?  Which do you think deserves to win?  Which do you think WILL win?  Why?

I've seen Frost/Nixon and Slumdog Millionaire (my only two non-animated movies this year, alas...I really LOVE going to the movies, but it's fairly difficult to manage....), both of which were FABULOUS.

My prediction: Slumdog Millionaire.  Not only because it was an AMAZING film, but because it was heartwarming and uplifting, and during times when the political climate is optimistic, as it seems to be following this most recent election, I feel like the Academy tends to vote for uplifting films.

I've seen Slumdog Millionaire and Curious Case of Benjamin Button. I'll probably watch Frost/Nixon sometime in the near future. The cinematography of Benjamin Button was excellent and the story was great. Slumdog Millionaire was good but in my opinion it was not as good as Benjamin Button, but there is some scenes I enjoyed. I think Slumdog Millionaire is the odds on favorite right now to win because it's been picking up wins in all the award shows. I don't know if I really believe in the Academy Awards if a movie like Crash wins best picture. And how could Gran Torino (probably one of the best) be completely  snubbed from a nomination but a movie like Wanted gets one...these award shows are losing their credit.

I have seen every movie on that list except Milk and Frost/Nixon and I have to say Slumdog has it in the bucket!! that was one of the best movies I have seen in a long time and believe it should and will win! Though I did think Kate Winslets role in The Reader was very well acted I am rooting for her to win the best actress category. Benjamin Button was good but I didnt think it was best Picture good. The reader was very compeling, but almost to heavy. I think that Leonardo Dicaprio was robbed for Revolutionary Road because he was good in that movie, I wouldnt expect him to win but I thought he deserved a nomination.
