Eight is enough?

A woman in Bellflower, CA, gave birth to octuplets on Monday.  Details surrounding their conception have not yet been released, but fertility experts speculate that a process known as ovarian stimulation was used.

Given the increased risks of "high-multiple" pregnancies and births, should there be a limit on the number of embryos a woman can carry (provided that there is medical involvement in the conception through some form of fertility treatment), or is it the family's choice if they want to assume the higher level of risk?

I think that women should have a limit on how many embryos they that they are allowed to put in their body because the like the lady in the article the babies were 9 1/2 weeks old and 1 to 3 pounds. I think that moms would want a good life for their children so i think that they should think on how many kids they want to have.

I think that there should be a limit because not many multiple births are succesfull. When you use some kind of medication in order to be able to give birth, you are taking a risk that can risk you and your babys. If they want to have a mutliple birth they should just have twins and if they wish to have more kids then they should wait till later so that the risk is lower.

So once the fourth kid comes out they should just club it to death?

Or once the second child is out would they scramble to  close up the women and trap the other babies inside? you can't choose how many kids you have, if the cell splits, it splits.

If the cell splits then yea it splits, but since techonology is advancing, soon the mother may be able to choose how many children she wants, and that is what needs to be limited. Otherwise if the cell splits then that is just what happens and nothing can be done about it. But when mother CHOOSES to have multiple births such as 8 kids, it could be very riskfull and the risk should be put into perspective.

8 children? WOW. talk about amazing...having 8 children is a risky thing
to the mother as well as the babies being born..i believe, their should be a limit on the number of embryos a women should carry. thinking as parent, their first priority should be their concern about their children's health and growth. from what i've read in the newspaper, it said "an increase in fertitlity treatments has resulted in a dramatic rise in premature births".. what good is it..to have 8 eight children, most of them being premature and make them suffer? i would want my babies to be healthy..
premature babies need special care, and having risks to diseases, and metal problems because everything isn't fully developed. the mother of the 8 should have thought about those risks before hand..
i'm a premature kid by 4 weeks. & my mom told me, i had to be placed under special care and treatment and couldn't be brought home for about a month..

so answering the question, there should be a limit, but i guess it's also the families choice if they want to take a chance and risk that kind of level with thier babies. -___-

Not only did she just have eight children but she has six more at home and she is single mom!! I think that the fertility doctor should not have let this happen it is harden enough for two parents to raise 14 kids let alone one. I think that someone should have stopped her from doing this!!

Gees, she must really love children and babies!! from what i can see, raising kids isn't an easy job, so why make it harder by adding 8 more to the 6 already? plus, i'm not so sure i like this technology- it doesn't seem natural, you know? it's just like how now days we have the ability to pick out physical features for a baby. But instead, its deciding how many kids you want in one go.  Plus it would have been even more amazing if she hadn't taken any medication to give birth to eight babies.  That has got to be the mother-load of all mother-loads!

one word: crazy.
this is unfair to her children and herself.
i think something like this should not be allowed. if she wants to have 14 kids thats her choice but the children have no choice in which house to be raised in. the kids will have many medical issues throughout life thanks to their unnatural and ridiculous birth and the other 6 kids wont get the attention they deserve.
again i must say harram...

just a way to get some public attention and it worked but now she has to deal with all of these kids that she obviously will not be able to handle
