Injured good Samaritan ticketed for jaywalking

-A good Samaritan who helped push three people out of the path of a pickup truck before being struck and injured has gotten a strange reward for his good deed: A jaywalking ticket.
-Jim Moffett and another man were helping two elderly women cross a busy Denver street in a snowstorm when he was hit Friday night.
-Moffett suffered bleeding in the brain, broken bones, a dislocated shoulder and a possible ruptured spleen. He was in serious but stable condition Wednesday.
-The Colorado State Patrol issued the citation. Trooper Ryan Sullivan said that despite Moffett's intentions, jaywalking contributed to the accident.

Is this wrong that he is being issued a ticket for potentially saving someone else's life and taking the hit for them? Doesn't this give people less incentive to help people?

I dont think it will give the truly good people less incentive to help people but I think this is ridiculous! He should be rewarded, not ticketed. Whoever had the idea to issue that ticket is mad and, harram, is probably just a miserable person.

That cop must have been a jerk!! why would anyone deserve to get a jaywalking ticket if they were going to save someones life!! He almost died saving three people and he gets a jerk!!! hopefully he will be able to fight it and win!! that State patrol needs to be fired!

this just goes to show how messed up some of our laws r. they cant even see the good in what he did they just see that he was jaywalking. now if Moffett had just sat there and watched the 2 elderly women get hit people would have said he was a heatless person and would have looked down on him for the rest of his life.

Yes it is wrong but the law is the law. Although I would argue that saving a life is more important than keeping traffic laws I can't blame the Colorado State Patrol for doing their job and citing him. I'm sure they do it with much reluctance.

But I doubt that this will push people away from lending a hand since the people that help others (usually) are already willing to make sacrifices. I'm sure that Jim doesn't regret saving those people's lives.

that's definiately not cool. i can't believe they still gave him a ticket when he got injured and he even helped two people at the same time! what about the driver? did he get any punishment for not stopping?? and the incentive for helping people is that it makes you feel good inside when you know that you made a difference.  the possibility of getting a ticket shouldn't cause people to back off of being a good person.

wow, he risked his life & save those 3 people and now he's being punished with a ticket? that is so wrong. He should be rewarded not given a stinken ticket. seriously how many people in the world would risk their own lives to push people out of the way so they won't get injuried & then have yourself seriously injuired with broken bones, bleeding brain, dislocated shoulders, etc?

"applause" what a nice man. :]
