Boy shoots parents after they took away Halo 3

Its not exactly new but hey!

Daniel Petric, 15 at the time, shot his parents in October 2007 (killing his mother) after they took away his violent Halo 3 video game. In January 2009, Judge James Burge pronounced Petric guilty of murder, rejecting his lawyers' claim that Petric was insane at the time because he had confused "killing" cartoon avatars with killing humans. However, even though the legal test of insanity was not met, Judge Burge acknowledged that Petric "had no idea at the time he hatched this plot that if he killed his parents, they would be dead forever." [WBBM-TV (Chicago)-AP, 1-12-09]

(I think the Judge played Halo and understood the terms of respawn)no

Should Daniel Petric have gotten away with this...?

Heckkk nooo. This is insane, see what this world has turned to? Are they going to make videogames illegal now because a few kids cant controll themselves? And i dont think this is the first time this happened either. Where did the gun come from anyways and how did he get his hands on it?

Well I would like to see this child to judge if he is clinically insane although you'd have to be a bit cuckoo to kill your parents over a game (even if it is Halo). I'm surprised that the judge acknowledged that Petric really believed his parents would "respawn" if he killed them, not a very bright 15 year old.

As i understand this story his father took the game away from him and locked it in a safe. So i think its a story more of anger then insanity.

and no he should be punished

This is sick. At 15 you are able to THINK and make decisions. I mean 15 year olds are allowed to drive cars alone in some states! this is outrageous and sad. But he should not get away with this at all. It is something that he can never take back or change.

"... they would be dead forever."

That reminds me of when Brooke Shields(?) said, in a no-smoking ad '...And when you die, you lose a very important part of your life.'
Or something to that effect hahaha

The best part (of a terrible story) is the only thing he fled with was his copy of Halo 3. He should be charged with 2nd Degree Murder and attempted 2nd degree murder. As I believe he didn't plan out some intricate plot to do it. sup next 40 years of fear of dropping the soap.

I think this kid needs to be locked up and needs help
this is crazy, why would you shoot your parents for a video game?
i dont stab my parents whenever they take my car away
This kid has problems, i dont think it is the video game, i think its him. Ive never played Halo, but seriously, its just a game.

HAHAAHAHAHAHAH JASON
So great.

He gets what he deserves. If he freaks out that much over getting his VIDEO GAME taken away, he's 'wiggity-wack' in the first place.

He is not 15. THEY LIE!!!!!

Video games has nothing to do with it. The fact that he is crazy about a game that's been out for aboout 6 months is something else.
