Adopting Stricter Guidelines?

Madonna's request to adopt a second child from Malawi was denied this week, raising a series of questions about celebrity adoption, transracial adoption, and foreign vs. domestic adoption.

http://abcnews.go.com/Entertainment/Story?id=7249278&page=2

Do the needs of children without homes transcend these issues, or do some of the adoption opponents have valid points?

Which is more potentially problematic, children growing up in a transracial home or children growing up in foster care or orphanages awaiting same-race homes?

i think bot have their ups and downs. it is only safe to say that celebrities should not get special treatment but at the same time should not be treatd harsher for those same reasons. there is a grey area in between

I really think that being a celebrity should have nothing to do with the adoption process. Period. It should be based on how good of a parent you are, NOT who you are.
And I really think that they should be stricter about their foreign adoptions. I mean there are thousands of children here who need help. I'm not saying that we should abandon those who need help in foreign countries, but I think we should pay attention to the ones here as well.
Being in a trans-racial home shouldn't be a factor either, unless it's an immediate problem[although in these times I really don't think it is].

Bottom line: It should be based on the ability of the potential parent, not their acting/singing/whatever ability

I agree with Jamie that there is a grey area. But i think that these kids have a better opportunity in life if there not in and out of foster homes.. It must be really hard not having anyone to hug or really really love because you might not be there the next day.. if Madonna could love this child, and give it a better life.. Then who cares about race

I think they should look at what is best for the child and where the child will have a better life, and I think Madonna would have a better life for this child.

it would be a hard thing for all of them. But the most for the children in orphanages.

Well I applaud Malawai for refusing to bow down to Madonna's request of adoption because the law states you have to be a resident of Malawai for 18-24 months. I wonder what that girl will think in the future if she could've lived that luxurious lifestyle and may potentially never escape poverty.  I don't think the transracial adoption are affecting their lifestyle in any way. Children growing up in a orphanage is worse because they need a family. I find it funny Madonna threw a party after her adoption was denied, yeah, I read some celebrity news off tmz.
