PITTSBURGH   Pittsburgh police say a high school student is facing charges for using a biology class snake as a jump rope.

Police say the incident happened Monday at Taylor Allderdice High School, according to KDKA-TV.

Police aren't identifying the 17-year-old suspect because he's being charged in juvenile court. The boy will be charged with theft and cruelty to animals.

The animal survived the ordeal and was being examined by a veterinarian.

Pittsburgh Public School officials on Tuesday were not immediately able to say what kind of snake it was.

Wow.... Now I get to say what I say in AP Bio every time there's some kind of animal cruelty involved in discussions. PETA WOULDN'T LIKE THAT!!!

i dont know why people think it is okay to abuse animals. can anyone explain it to me?

thats sooooooo messed up! i personally dont like snakes. they freak me out and theyre really slimmy. haha but still..thats really mean to use a snake as a jump rope. i think they are right for charging him with theft and animal cruelty.

The kid has guts, most people wouldn't handle a snake like that. He's probably the class clown and this time took it a little too far.

Wow thats so wrong.
Why would you abuse animals?
its just flat out wrong
i saw a segment today where some seniors bought 60 rats for a prank and killed them for the prank.
I think the kid should e charged with harming the animal

Actually, snakes aren't slimy at all. Their scales just make it look like they are.
