Elton John 'Adoption Plan'

Charity urges Elton John adoption plan. Research conducted in the Ukraine in 2007 showed that celebrity adoptions was actually encouraging vulnerable single mothers to abandon their children into homes hoping their child would be adopted by a rich foreigner and have a better life.
---Do you think that celebrity adoptions are a good thing? hmm---

I dont think celebrities are the best parent for kids who need to be adopted because yes are rich so they give whatever they want to their kids but thats not all kids needm probably most of this celebreties wont have time for raisin those kids. the best for this kids would be to go a normal common family that could give them the necessary to succedd in life

I dont think celebrities make the best parents because they're too busy to really take care of them but the children are most likely better off with a celebrity and their nanny then where the child originally came from. i hope that mothers do not actually think that their kids will end up with rich celebrities if they're given up for adoption. is it very unlikely this will happen.

I think celebrities could possibly make good adoptive parents (depending on the person of course), but that would thrust the child/children into the limelight and subject them to unnecessary tabloid scrutiny. On the other hand, they would get a new life and opportunities they never would've had otherwise.

Like we said the other day during our class discussion, celebrities are just ordinary people with extraordinary jobs. It's hard for me to say, "Celebrities should not be adopting children" because it's one of those things that really is a case-by-case basis. Those who are so caught up in the workload should not take on such a challenge, but those who have the ability to balance it out may be perfectly qualified.

I don't think that's the issue at hand here... I think we all agree that a celebrity probably isn't the BEST parent, but the article talks about how a celebrity adoption inspires single mothers to give up their child in hopes that someone (who could better provide for the child's needs) will adopt the child. I think it's great that celebrities have this kind of impact, because there are plenty of families out there who would love to be able to adopt a kid and could provide a much better standard of living for him/her.

So as a whole, I think celebrity adoptions are a good thing. While there are exceptions, I believe that for the most part, they help to give these kids a better life. Whether it be with the celebrity themselves, or with a new family, I'm sure that most of the kids who DO get adopted are much better off than they would have been.

I think it is dumb how single mothers are putting their children up for adoption for the off-chance that they MIGHT get adopted by celebrities. Also,  I agree that celebrities might not be the best parents because they wont have time to spend with their children that they have adopted.

I think it's very dumb to put your child up for adoption. You should take care of your responsibility and its selfish on your part. The kid might not be adopted from a rich person or anybody. I don't think its a good thing to do

Wellllll.......those mothers are pretty naive.  Though they have good intentions, a better life for their child, the probability of their baby being adopted by a celebrity is pretty much nonexistent. Do they realize that celebrities don't even make up like a fraction of a percent of the population? But for those lucky FEW who do get adopted by celebrities, of COURSE i think that celebrities would be good parents, at least in comparison to their former single mothers. In being adopted by a celebrity, the child would have uncountable new opportunities and advantages not even fathomable in their former living situation. However, this is pretty much just dreaming....like i said....the odds of being adopted by a celebrity is pretty much rediculouslty low.

If the mothers can't provide for their children, they have every right to give their child up for adoption. It is not only wise, but extremely UNselfish, actually. What's better? A mother who keeps her baby and lives on the street, or a mother who gives her baby up for adoption and sees it adopted by a middle or upper class family?

i think celebrities can make good parents, they are regular people just like everybody else. they have every right to adopt children, they obviously can give them a better life and possibly even save their lives. angelina and brad seem to be doing just fine, they are very busy poeple and if they can do it anyone can.

I don't think it is all that right for a celebrity to adopt, I mean it is okay , but you have to have commitments to take care of the children. For mothers giving thee children up for adoption to MAYBE having a celebrity adopt them is pretty lame if you ask me. I mean okay that would be pretty cool, But that's just plain messed up for the child to get adopted JUST because the mother wanted a celebrity as a parent for them! So I think that thoughs parents should think before they do dumb things like they are doing!

Well seeing how I am adopted.... Being famous has nothing to do with raising children. I love how these celebrities, who outsource their parenting much like how dell outsources its customer service are on the front pages of newspapers. They almost make adoption into something ugly. They travel to these 3rd world countries and parade their wealth until governments cut all the red tape that stops a normal person from adopting a child. /rant off..... i need a nap

Whatever mom 'hopes her child will be adopted by a celebrity' must be very uneducated and not realize that the chances are one to a million. But I also think it is a good thing celebrities adopt kids to provide them a better life. much love to BRANGELINA :)
