A Saudi couple were forced to divorce after they were married because the brothers outed their brother in law in court saying that he was not prestigious enough to be married to his wife.
Human rights groups were criticizing the ruling and with help from the lawyers the couple got the case overturned.
Do you think that marriage should be based off prestige?
I believe a person can marry anyone they want to marry. It is their choice, and people even family need to accept it and let them be happy together. I don't think it is right for that brother to have been able to interfere.
If both the man and women decide to marry, there shouldn't be any other requirements to fulfill to get them married. I don't understand why these nations say they run by Islamic law, and there actions always contradict the values and laws of mainstream Islam!!!
It is the husband and wifes choice to get married. The decision should be between the two getting married only, and no one else should interfere with that. Their marrage should also be based on love rather than prestige.
This couple should not be forced to have a divorce because other people does not want them to be married. It was their choice to get married because they love each other and no one can do anything about that.
I agree with Briana. Marriage is about love, trust, and balance. Prestige should not matter. I think it is completely rediculous that people can say that such a thing about marriage.
