Caribbean Mentorship Institute calls for anti-bullying campaigns in schools

Bullying is a serious problem in our world today. Many kids are bullied everyday when they go to school. Bullying often has long-term effects on the kids, such as anxiety, depression, sleep problems, and academic difficulties. Felicia Browne, Caribbean Mentorship Institute president, believes that "anti-bullying campaigns must be placed at the forefront for educational institutions". Do you agree with Felicia or do you have another opinion?

Why would anyone be in favour of bullying? Of course people need to stop bullying eachother because we are all human beings. We should be having a society in which we all rely on one another.

I think bullying is a big issue cause of how many deaths it caused through suicide and how it really degrades a person mentally

We need to put much, MUCH, greater penalties for bullying in school. There are always these stories about bullying and they just need harsher penalties i feel.

I definitely agree that schools need to improve their bullying punishments in schools. Because of social media, cyber bullying is becoming the more popularized form of bullying rather than the usual physical abuse and name calling. This makes it difficult for schools to catch cyber bullying because of the anonymous option and also because schools don't monitor students' social media accounts.

Bullying in school is definitely a huge problem especially in this age of social media. It is so easy to bully someone behind a computer screen with it going unnoticed by school administrators. I believe that schools need to take greater initiative to help students if they are being bullied and punish those who are doing the bullying. I think we still have a rigid idea of bullying as a big guy who steals your lunch money and throws you in a trash can. However, it is not always that clear. Often times, bullies go unnoticed and the quiet gossip hurts much more than the physical attacks.

Why would anyone oppose anti-bullying? This should be a primary concern for all levels of education, it will make schools safer, but also allows kids to concentrate more on school itself, rather then having to worry about being bullied.

bullying is probably the #1 issue in all schools. whether it be a highly reguarded private scool or an ordinary public shool. kids are abused and harrased on a daily basis and it needs to stop. it effects people in many different ways... and at its worse causes death. this is wrong and the fact the bullying hasnt become a bigger priority before this is far beyond me. we need to step it up and save our youth from future problems. school is a plays for learning not harassment. i agree with felicia.

Its sad the bullying is such a huge issue in schools. I don't think anyone can understand why someone could dislike someone so much, to the point of making their life terrible. Its an issue that should be talked about in schools, because school is a place you should feel safe, not a place where you feel like you'll be attacked.

you'd think that bullying wouldn't be so much of an issue considering it is common sense to be generally nice. Knowing how much damage bullying has cause to individuals, we should do something to change the effects of this issue and the issue itself

But at the same time, EVERYONE wants to be more powerful and be listened to. Bullying makes you feel powerful and is something that is quite easy to do. But at the same time, the easier thing to do is not always the better thing. Especially in this case.
