Police to be Charged over Taser Death of Roberto Laudisio Curti


On Friday, the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions said there was sufficient evidence to charge two officers with assault occasioning actual bodily harm and two officers with the lesser charge of common assault following the death of Roberto Laudisio Curti.

 

The 21-year-old football player died on Pitt Street in the early hours of March 18, 2012, following a chase by, and violent struggle with, 11 police officers, many of whom were acting on incorrect reports of an armed robbery.

 

Tasers were fired up to 14 times - nine hit Mr Curti - and he was restrained by seven officers using three cans of OC spray, two sets of handcuffs, a police baton and "half a ton" of officers

That is way too much force to use on any one man

I think there needs to be a huge review of all police activty when it comes to using a Taser

The amount of force they used towards one man is necessary and should be monitored

You would think that if even 3 officers were going against one guy the other 8 would take a step back, obviously 11 against 1 is not fair or necessary
