State Department warns travelers about visiting Honduras

The State Department on Tuesday cautioned travelers about the risks of visiting Honduras, known as the "murder capital of the world," saying that killings of Americans are frequent and almost never solved.

Honduras has had the highest murder rate in the world since 2010, and levels of violence and crime remain "critically high," the warning said.

Knowing this information, would you not travel to Honduras or any country that has these types of warnings?  Or would you simply ignore the warnings?

If Honduras is so dangerous, why are people still taking the risk and traveling there?

I think it depends on where you go in Honduras. I know that there are really dangerous places here in the US but there are also really nice places to visit. It all depends on where you decide to visit.

Personally i think that the risks out weigh the other possibilities of a peaceful vacation so yea I wouldn't go

Well if the State Department is warning against visitation I wouldn't risk it because I'm sure the department has investigated the matter thorougly.

i would be pretty skeptical about traveling to a place with a high violence rate, if i do travel there, i definitely wouldn't travel alone
