A day after Britain's military launched its first airstrikes against ISIS in Iraq the next question posed was who was going to be next to join the U.S. coalition against the terrorist extremists? Australian aircraft started flying over Iraq in support of allied operations Wednesday, said prime minister Tony Abbott. Australia is waiting for an invitation by Iraq to conduct airstrikes before totally committing their forces. Australia did run missions Wednesday consisting of inflight refueling and electronic surveillance in support of the United States and others.
Do you believe Australia can help in the fight against ISIS?
Australia can definitely help in the fight against ISIS. There is strength in numbers. I do not know how well trained its military is, but since Australia is a big nation, I'd imagine that it would definitely be a strong addition to the coalition.
If the Iraqi government approves of Australian help in their battle against the Islamic State than Australia should certainly commit itself to the war. The forces on the ground, mainly moderate Arabs, Shia Muslims, and Kurds need all the help they can get. Since Iraq has asked the world for help, I doubt they will deny Australia's attempt to fight the Islamic State.
Any country i believe can help even if all they do is support from home. The fact that a country is willing to help means there's more and more people who want the terrorist group gone. Means more people the terrorist are hurting and threatening. The bigger the coalition, the bigger the desire is to put in end to the problem.
The power from down under! Yes, I think they are a valuable asset to the operations against ISIS. I really like the fact that they are waiting for Iraqi permission to conduct missions. It shows we as nations are taking steps to level the playing field with these nations in need and raising them to the occasion. Bulldozing into Iraq would have done absolutely nothing in the long run. Australia's actions not only empower the Iraqi government, but they also strengthen the coalition against ISIS.
I think any help and support in the fight against ISIS would be beneficial. It doesn't matter as much that any country may not be the strongest addition to the coalition, but the fact they are willing to take action against the terrorist organization is important. With Australia joining in, our fight gains more support and morale which are integral parts of any battle.
i also believe that any help would be beneficial, not necessarily the strongest but they do make the coalition stronger by joining and having more armed forces.
