Mexico police find mass grave near site 43 students vanished

Authorities unearthed on Saturday unmarked graves containing a number of bodies on the outskirts of a southern Mexico town where 43 students disappeared after a deadly police shooting last week. The graves were in rough terrain in a hillside community that is part of the Iguala municipality. Police kept reporters far from the site. The 43 students disappeared last weekend after Iguala municipal officers shot at buses that the group had seized to return to their teacher training college near the state capital Chilpancingo. Three students were killed. Another three people died when police and suspected gang members shot at another bus carrying football players on the outskirts of town.  The officers are suspected of having links to criminal gangs, raising fears about the students' fate in a country where drug cartels often bury their victims in mass graves. Around 30 bodies were found in mass graves in Iguala alone this year.

Do you believe the police officers had something to do with the mass graves and shootings?

do you believe the  drug cartel is tied in?

Drug cartels seem to be responsible for the numerous dead bodies recovered. I think the police may have accidentally hit some of the students, but the cartel was responsible for most of the deaths. It is concerning to hear that the cartels use mass graves to put to wrest the dead.

It may be the police but it can also be the drug cartel. It is less likely that the police did it because they would admit it while the drug cartels are more likely to have done so because they may have hid the bodies so that they would not be found or accused.

It isn't surprising for the Mexican police to be suspected of being corrupt. There is very little doubt that the cartels are involved. These gangs are almost as brutal as terrorists and need to be dealt with harshly and proactively.

I wouldn't rule out the possibility of police being involved. It's unfortunate because police are supposed to be upstanding citizens concerned with other peoples safety, but they are not always. It would still be safe to think that the cartel was involved and are trying to frame the police. That would create more trust in the police once the crime is solved. However, I don't think that this is the real conclusion.

There is very little doubt that the cartels are involved. But, I wouldn't rule out the possibility of police being corrupted in mexico.
