Scientists: 'Positive' results in 1st human trial of experimental Ebola vaccine

The first human trial of an experimental Ebola vaccine has produced promising results, U.S. scientists said, raising hopes that protection from the deadly disease may be on the horizon. All 20 healthy adults who received the vaccine in a trial run by researchers from the National Institutes of Health in Maryland produced an immune response and developed anti-Ebola antibodies, the NIH said Wednesday. The vaccine is being developed by the NIH's National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases and British pharmaceutical giant GlaxoSmithKline. The process has been fast-tracked in light of the current catastrophic Ebola outbreak in West Africa, which has claimed more than 5,000 lives

do you believe this certain vaccine will be the cure?

do you think it will lead to a more promising and effective cure?

It is hard to say it would cure all cases of the virus but it seems very promising

As of right now, this vaccine is a promising cure for Ebola, but i don't think that it will be as effective for all future mutations of Ebola. With new strains of the virus though, this vaccine does give a basis for a newer vaccine to combat the more evolved strains. It might be a never-ending cycle of mutation for both the virus and the cure, but at least it's an improvement.

Any steps, such as this one, taken towards the prevention of the Ebola virus are needed. Regardless of whether something works or not, it is a step closer in the right direction. Some cheesy Einstein quote I believe it was that something to the effect of a thousand failures aren't failures, they are just ways to not get the desired result. I do believe we will have a vaccine in the near future. We need a vaccine in the near future.

i think its one of few good reports that have surfaced since the Ebola outbreak. I'm not certain how effective it will be, but its its costing thousands of dollars to create and distribute the vaccine, it better be.

If the vaccine isn't the cure, then it will definitely help find the cure.

I think its good they found this vaccine because even if it can't cure everyone with ebola but it still cures some cases of it that means they are that much closer to finding a cure and if it can cure ebola in all the patients who have then it would save thousands of lives.

That is all that we can ask for right now. Now that they have a vaccine to begin with, they have something to start from and base vaccines for future strains of Ebola on. Its like building a building. Once you have the foundation, you can build the next floor (or vaccine). Eventually you finish the building (the disease is eradicated)! :)

We cannot be very sure that it will be very effective although it is a good sign.

It may be promising but the virus can have a higher danger rate depending on how serious it gets. Hopefully they act on finding the cure soon.

I think all though it can cure a lot of people, the people not cured by this vaccine would end up having an eboala virus that can adapt and becomes immune to other vaccines.

I think this vaccine has the possibility to be a cure for ebola, but it will take a lot more testing to find out. So far it is showing good results. If not, it will help us get a head start of figuring out an eventual cure.
