Canadian forces set to train near site of Boko Haram attacks - Cavannites

Canadian special forces are set to take part in a multi-country military training exercise in a part of Western Africa that continues to see attacks by the Islamic militant group Boko Haram. Canada's Department of National Defence says the soldiers will not fight Boko Haram, but it's not clear what would happen should they encounter the militants during training exercises, which start Monday in Diffa, Niger.

Do you think that it is smart to have a training exercise with western nations in a foreign county well that foreign country is under attack from a terrorist group?

I'm sure this is just a "training exercise". My personal feeling is that there will be some secret service-type activities occurring whilst the rest of the military is in the country-ready to back them up.

It probably isn't smart since they said they do not intend for their fighters fight this group, but it is a multi-country attack, so I assume that Canada has to help in some way.

This is probably just a training exercise and it is okay to have it during a time of attack but they still need to be protecting the people.
