Costa Rica's power grid runs on renewable energy

Hydropower, solar power and geothermic energy helped Costa Rica's power supplier use

zero fossil fuels for the first 75 days of 2015.

Costa Rica has converted to natural power all of early 2015.

Should America consider doing the same thing?

costa rica is relativley small compared to the united states in all aspects especially to energy consumption so i think no, oil is the only way to keep america powered

I think the United States should be making steps towards this and start from region to region till the whole country is complete with natural power because we are much greater in amount of land than Costa Rica. But yes this is a great idea

I feel like America should at the very least consider any type of program that would be cost effective and efficient, seeing as how we have an extensive amount of debt.

Not sure this is the route to go but America should definitely consider effective programs

we could use this for some energy, but i do not think that we have enough money to supply a whole country on this power.

This is something Congress needs to consider and if possible commit to.

i believe that altering the United States energy source from purely oil to alternative energy is a very long and difficult process that will take at least a couple of decades to accomplish solely due to the fact that costa ricas population is 4.8 million to US's 318 million.

I think it could be something the US could try.

It would not hurt to try as the US is already up to its neck in debt

I feel like it would be great if we could accomplish this and try to do anything we can to use as little fossil fuels as possible but I don't think we are even close to that in the near future.

I think that this could be something that the US can try, However, if we came to being able to accomplish this it would be really great for us
